Information
Goda Yuko had always been involved in music; from her birth she was introduced to various genres but liked rock the most due to her mother, who was mostly a rock fan. However, she was shy as a child and disliked singing in public.
Her mother bought a Marilyn Manson cd that Yuko listened to, and her initial reaction to the album was shock. She began composing and writing lyrics after the exposure to the band, and Yuko moved to Tokyo in spring of 2003 after performing lives in her hometown of Fukuoka with two friends after high school graduation. She made her major debut in June 2003 with the single Hane after releasing the indies single Kusari. In 2004 she met producer Sasaki Jun (most well-known for producing MISIA) and in August began her music career anew as "YuU".
YuU became the vocalist of the band sui-ren (formerly Boogaloob) after their then-current vocalist left in 2005. Despite having been sent over 100 demo tapes, the band chose YuU after meeting her (sui-ren and YuU are on the same label). The other two band members were charmed by her power of expression, vocal quality, and intuition, and they persuaded her to join the band.
