History

Yajima Maimi joined Hello! Project as one of the fifteen Hello! Project Kids. In 2003, she was a member of the one-shot unit ZYX and released two singles with the group before it went inactive.

Yajima was one of the seven Hello! Project Kids who weren't placed in Berryz Koubou. In 2005, those seven members would form °C-ute. While it was Umeda Erika who was to be the group's leader (because she was the oldest), she did not feel responsible for the task, and so the leader position was passed down to Yajima (who was second oldest). She is often one of the lead vocalists in the majority of °C-ute's singles.

She was a member of Little Gatas and Mix Gatas before being added to Gatas Brilhantes H.P. in 2007.

Yajima also currently co-hosts °C-ute's weekly radio program, Cutie Party. She took over the role when Murakami Megumi left the group. Yajima also collaborated with Abe Natsumi to release the single "16sai no Koi Nante" on January 16, 2008.
