タンポポ (Romaji: Tanpopo; English: Dandelion) was Morning Musume's first official subgroup to be formed in Hello! Project.

History
Tanpopo was formed in November of 1998 with Morning Musume members Ishiguro Aya, Iida Kaori, and Yaguchi Mari. Tanpopo is the Japanese word for "dandelion" and the group was meant to have a softer, more mature feel.
Tanpopo released four singles and an album before Ishiguro Aya left the group in the fall of 1999. This left only Iida and Yaguchi, who continued to perform songs without her. Kago Ai and Ishikawa Rika were added to the group in the summer of 2000, making it a group of four.
Three more singles were released with this new lineup before Tanpopo was again reformed in the summer of 2002. Only one of the existing members, Ishikawa Rika, was left in the group, and new members Konno Asami and Niigaki Risa from Morning Musume and Shibata Ayumi from Melon Kinenbi were added.
Only one single has been released with the newest group of members, in September of 2002. A best-of compilation album was released earlier the same month, featuring songs by the first two generations of Tanpopo, with a special song sung together by all five first and second generation members.
Tanpopo has become inactive and it is unknown if they will be returning to the scene.
