"Taiyou no Uta" is gravure idol/actress Sawajiri Erika's debut into the music world. Playing one of the leads in the Taiyou no Uta dorama, she also sings the theme for the show. She released the single under Kaoru Amane, who is her character in the show.
Selling over 150,000 copies in the first week of release. Because Taiyou no Uta sold 480,183 copies in 2006 it became #10 best-selling single of the year and the #1 top selling single by a solo female artist. This single has been certified double platinum by RIAJ.
