Shouso Strip is Shiina's second album. This album reached #1 in the charts, and sold 904,000 copies in its first week despite being released on a Friday (hence charting for only half of the week). In total, the album charted in Oricon's top 100 albums chart for 29 weeks. It received both the award for Rock Album of the Year and best album of the year. The limited edition included a pink slip-case as well as an exclusive photo book. The album sold 2,332,290 units in Japan. Because of this, it was the #3 album of 2000.
The first press of the album was released with a special pink slipcase cover, a larger booklet and a slightly different version of Izonshou (one in which she sung the "Hitler" in the lyrics Kiiroi kuruma no na wa 'Hitoraa' (黄色い車の名は「ヒトラー」; the name of my yellow car is 'Hitler' ) instead of just leaving a blank where nothing was sung like in the standard version).
This album is the first of Shiina's albums to feature a symmetrical tracklisting. Furthermore, the total album time adds up to 55:55.
