Information
SHANADOO is an all female member group made up four young Japanese women from the PLATINUM PRODUCTION agency. Chika, Junko, and Manami have worked together in the past as part of avex's promotional group, vivace. vivace's works include promotional work as race queens, bikini pinup modeling, and even a few eurobeat style recordings for various avex music compilations such as Girl's BOX. Marina was later added to the group as lead vocalist once the project went into production with noted German music producer, David Brandes, at the helm. Brandes' production works include numerous international hits with acts such as E-ROTIC, Bad Boys Blue, and Vanilla Ninja.
Released on June 16, 2006 through one of Brandes' record labels, ICEZONE MUSIC, SHANADOO's first single, King Kong, a cover of E-ROTIC's 2000 work of the same name, later popularized in 2005 by HINOI Team in Japan, was met with great success. SHANADOO's works were exclusive to Germany and other European markets, such as Austria, until December of 2006, when avex announced that a then untitled debut album would be released on February 28, 2007 in Japan. In January of 2007, it was announced by ICEZONE MUSIC that SHANADOO's fourth single, to be released on March 09, 2007 in Germany, would be original content instead of a Japanese cover of E-ROTIC. In September - October, Shanadoo's take on aneka's "JAPANESE BOY" was posponed twice due to troubles getting advertising on Television in Germany. It also took SHANADOO on a new turn, on covering 80's music instead of E-rotic. SHANADOOS's next single "THINK ABOUT THE OMEN" will be released on the same day as their newest and second album "THE OMEN". However, the duel release effected sales. Audiences generally either bought the album or the single, probably thinking they were the same CD, as titles were ORIGINALLY very similar (THE OMEN and THINK ABOUT THE OMEN).
On the 21st of November 2007, images of the singles and album covers for THINK ABOUT and THE SYMBOL were released. However, also came a surprising new logo. this alternate version of the SHANADOO logo may possibly be only temporary for the release. It is still unknown whether this new logo is permanent or not.
Although SHANADOO have yet to release a new single in 2008, or perform a new song, SHANADOO have been incredibly busy with several live performances every month. Late DECEMBER (2007) to January (2008), the girls participated in ODAIBA's HOT FANTASY event [1]. In February, SHANADOO surprised fans by turning up in Germany suddenly to perform for an 'unnamed' company, again surprising fans by traveling back to Japan the very next day.
Recently, Shanadoo has performed in front of larger crowds around Tokyo. They performed in ODAIBA once again for お台場学園2008~文化祭~ (Odaiba Culture Festival) and at GO!GO!SHIODOME黄金週間 (Go! Go! Shiodome Golden Week). A misunderstanding in translation led fans to believe SHANADOO would perform a new song (that had been rehearsed) in a performance at Shibuya's HEART DRIVE LIVE vol.3 however, No new song was performed. At all the performances in Japan, SHANADOO's basic line up consists of songs mainly from Welcome to Tokyo, such as Guilty of Love, Passion In Your Eyes and Give A Little Love. In Japan, Shanadoo have performed every one of their single releases, except for THINK ABOUT. Will Shanadoo continue this tradition into their Performance on JUNE 30, or will shanadoo Finally perform a NEW SONG?
Shanadoo celebrated their 2nd Anniversary, on the 16th of June 2008, 2 years after the release of KING KONG.
On August 7th 2008, SHANADOO's German producer David Brandes announced that SHANADOO would shortly release a new album in Japan on the official Icezone-Music forum. No date was announced, and it is very unclear as to what the album will include. The probabilit of the Album being released in Japan, simply being a Japanese Version of THE SYMBOL is very high ~ however, if this is the case, there is also a possibility that a new track will be included.
