Information

SPEED was a female pop group consisting of four members. When the group debuted, they scored the record for the lowest average age for a group (13 years old). SPEED's two primary vocalists were Shimabukuro Hiroko and Imai Eriko. Since debuting in 1996 with Body & Soul, they have won multiple Japan Gold Disk Awards such as New Artist of the Year, Pop Album of the Year, and Song of the Year each year.

The group disbanded in early 2000, much to the displeasure of their fans, with each of the members pursuing solo projects (most notably hiro). They did, however, temporarily get back together twice for charity purposes: first in 2001, a one night reunion concert which attracted 24,000 audiences, releasing the single ONE MORE DREAM & a live album later on from their one night reunion concert, and again in 2003 from mid to end of that year. They released new works as part of the Save the Children charity project & held a nation-wide concert tour.

SPEED's songs are typically fast and upbeat, incorporating a little bit of a hip-hop feel, and they have also been known to do the odd ballad on occassion.
