Information

Ringo no Uta is Shiina Ringo's ninth and final single as a solo artist before creating the band Tokyo Jihen. The title translates to "Ringo's Song", or "The song of the Apple". aa salle de bain is an orchestrated version of Yokushitsu (from Shouso Strip), sung in English. Ringo Catalogue ~Kuroko Jidai Saihen-san~ is a song of extreme complexity, as the whole piece is composed from all of Shiina's past songs. The song's instrumentals track her path through the music business, using various unique instruments featured in past songs Shiina had released. The song finishes on reverb of Ichijiku no Hana, a bonus track from the analog version of Kalk Samen Kuri no Hana. The lyrics are also composed from her previous songs. Ringo no Uta is also featured as the first track of Kyouiku, Tokyo Jihen's first album, but in a remade form. Ringo no Uta reached #2 on Oricon charts, and charted for 12 weeks. The single sold 114,000 copies.

This single was used as a way to symbolise the fact that Shiina was no longer performing as a solo artist. The idea that Shiina had got her famous mole removed was constant with the album PV's. The single comes with an All-Region DVD featuring the PV for Ringo no Uta, as well as an unplugged version of the Ringo no Uta PV - a sort of upclose version focusing on her "characters" throughout her career. This single was released on Shiina's birthday. The first press edition featured a mole on Shiina Ringo's face in the cover image.

Promotional Video

In this promotional video, Shiina remade each of her major PV's slightly, using the character shown in them and parodying them by making them sing the lyrics to Ringo no Uta. The video is wrapped up by a shot of Shiina shown naked (in an artistic sense and shoulders up) without her famous mole. All songs are in order of release (except strangely Tsukimi Asobi). Disambiguation

There are three versions of Ringo no Uta to be found in Shiina's discography (listed chronologically). These different versions are:

Ringo no Uta (りんごのうた)
Original, found on Ringo no Uta single as track one. This was Shiina's last solo single, and is more of a eulogy in itself. The song is very slow and laid-back. The PV was included on a second disk on the single.
Ringo no Uta (Electric Mole Live)
Found on the Electric Mole DVD. The song is a short, cut version which ends abruptly.
Ringo no Uta (林檎の唄)
Tokyo Jihen's cover, found on Kyouiku single as track one. This track is an upbeat, rocked up version of Shina's original song, and was used as another way to show that Shiina's career continues to flourish.
Ringo no Uta (Dynamite Out Live)
Tokyo Jihen's live cover, found on Dynamite out DVD as track one.
