"pearl～The Best Collection～" is KOKIA's first best collection, and last release with Victor Entertainment. The album was released concurrently with a DVD called jewel～The Best Video Collection～. Interestingly, all of the songs featured in the compilation have a tie-up of some sort except for I believe～umi no soko kara～. Since KOKIA did not like how artists usually put all of their singles on best collections, chose songs from throughout her discography (starting with the songs that people would recognise from commercials). She also added all of the singles single her last album, Uta ga Chikara. Furthermore, the song that KOKIA added to The Hotel Venus soundtrack, a cover of The Eagles' song Desperado. Four of the songs on the compilation have been completely re-arranged. This album reached #18 on Oricon charts and charted for six weeks.
