Ohyama Yurika

Ohyama Yurika was born on May 20th, 1984 on the southern Japanese Okinoerabu Island. She grew up surrounded by the traditional shima-uta music and musicians typical of the area, and took the style to heart.

In the later years of highschool, she decided that she wanted to focus on music. She was accepted to the Proffessional Music School in Tokyo, where she studied vocal music.

In early 2005, she signed on with Sony Music Japan where she used her gentle, shima-uta inspired vocals to release her first single Umi no Ao Sora no Ao. She has since released three more singles, and is set to release her first album, KIND OF BLUE, on October 18th, 2006.
