Information
In 1997, Ogata Ryuichi participated in a commercial audition with his older sister. He was then scouted by Actors Studio and began lessons as a scholarship student with Chiba Ryohei. In 2001, he and Chiba were chosen to join the 2000 ASAYAN Idol Contest winner Tachibana Keita to form the J-Pop group w-inds.
Although Ogata was originally chosen to be a back-up dancer, he now participates in rapping and in small solos. He had small solos in Deny, Night Flight ~Yakan Hikou~, SUPER LOVER ~I need you tonight~, and Time Machine. Ogata also plays a central role as MC during concerts or live broadcasts. He has also performed his own solo works at concerts, such as Energy (2004) and from I (2005). However these tracks have not been released on CD.

- His ambition is for someone to tell him that he is the best.
- His ideal girl is someone who is normal, but strong and independent. His future proposal will be "Let's get married!" and his his marriage principle is to be a husband that cares a lot about his wife and protects her.
- His first opinion on meeting Tachibana Keita was that he was kawaii or adorable. He does not remember his first opinion on meeting Chiba Ryohei.
