Was the group's leader until 2002 because she felt unfit for the task and the responsibility was given to the second-oldest member, Saito Hitomi.
Has a comedic or boke image within Melon Kinenbi, but also has a very tolerant character with the younger Hello! Project members making her very well liked.
Glasses were her trademark during 2003-2006. She started wearing glasses regularly during the promotion of MI DA RA Matenrou. In 2006 she stated she was depending too much on the power of glasses and began wearing them less often.
When at home she is usually in the nude, unless she is worried that others will see her.
