In 1994 she sung at the 18th Nagasaki Song Festival, and later that year she participated in the "'94 POPULAR SINGER'S CONTEST", singing the song Hana Banka. Here she was discovered by enka artist Itsuki Hiroshi.
A few days later she was in a television show called NHK BS Tournament Song Championship. She came in second place, only beaten by Kondo Kaori with one point.
In 1995 she went to Tokyo to study at Meiji Nakano High School, and at the same time taking vocal lessons. The same year she was featured as one of the female singers in Itsuki Hiroshi's duet album, credited as Yuki.
She graduated from Meiji Nakano High School in 1998.
In 2000 Maeda became a member of Hello! Project, and started her career under the renowned enka record label Teichiku with her debut single "Naki Usagi".
In 2003 she signed with Up-Front Works and their label zetima. In mid-2004 she was transferred to another Up-Front Works label, Rice Music.
Outside of her solo career, her other presence in Hello! Project has been in the shuffle units SALT5 and H.P. All Stars. She was also put in the shuffle group Akagumi 4 in 2001 as replacement for Danielle Delaunay, who was in a bad physical condition at the time.
In 2002 she particiapted on several of the Douyou Pops series releases, and in 2006 and 2007 she appeared regularly on the Hello! Project show Uta Doki! Pop Classics.
In May and June of 2008 she started hosting a weekly radio show entitled "Maeda Yuki no Yume Ongakukan" ("Maeda Yuki's Music Mansion"). It ran every sunday at night time, and lasted thirty minutes. After "Maeda Yuki's Music Mansion" went off the air, Maeda became a regular at Music Bird hosting a weekly show entitled "Maeda Yuki's Music & Diary". It runs every Tuesday night. She is also set to host NHK Radio Broadcast's "Uta no Sanpomichi" ("Promenade of Songs"), which is set in NHK studio park, presenting the show with a live public.
Trivia
- She is in no way related to the former Whiteberry vocalist of the same name.
- Yuki Maeda joined Hello! Project thanks to Iida Kaori. [1] During the show Idol wo Sagase, Iida had said that her dream was to be a manager. For the show, she became the manager of Itsuki Hiroshi, and she was able to make it a success. Following this management it was suggested she would be the manager of Maeda Yuki. To make Maeda a TV regular, Iida made her go on Hello! Morning frequently, and from April 2000–present, Maeda has been a member of Hello! Project.
