Lakuen is Hirai Ken's eighth single, which was Hirai's come-back single as an R&B singer. This single reached #7 on Oricon charts and charted for 28 weeks. This is Hirai Ken's first single to chart on Oricon charts since his debut single Precious Junk, and his first top 10 single. Despite debuting five years before, this is the first song that Hirai would sing at the annual Kouhaku music contest. As this single sold 537,810 copies in 2000 it became the #39 single of the year.
