Information

Jupiter is Hirahara Ayaka's debut single, and is a cover song of the Jupiter section of the 1916 orchestral suite entitled The Planets, which was composed by Gustav Holst. The song was used for two purposes; one as the theme song to series seven of the TBS dorama 3-Nen B-Gumi Kinpachi Sensei, and as the CM song for the Sumatra Tsunami Relief Fund. This single, though not reaching #1 (#2 instead) gained long-term popularity, and charted for an amazing 107 weeks on Oricon charts. In 2004, this single sold 675,807 units, making it the #3 single for the entire year. However, due to it's extended chart run, it also became the #42 single of 2005, selling 214,098 units in that year. Combined, the single has sold 922,730 units during it's chart run. An interesting fact about this single was that it was released on the same day as another long-charting single, Otsuka Ai's Sakuranbo.

Sales as of 2008.05.12: 924,294* copies sold.

Weeks on chart as of 2008.05.12: 107 weeks (Consecutive); 156 weeks (Non-consecutive).
