InuYasha (犬夜叉) is a Japanese shonen manga written by manga-ka Takahashi Rumiko. The manga first appeared on the pages of Shonen Sunday on November 13, 1996. The series ran for almost twelve years, ending its run on June 18, 2008. The series has been collected into 56 volumes on manga, making it Takahashi's longest running series.

The series was turned into an anime series by Sunrise and debuted on Yomiuri TV in Japan on October 16, 2000 and ran until September 13, 2004 (with a total of 167 episodes). The series is currently running on Wikipedia:Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programing block in the USA.

Both the anime and manga have been licensed by Viz Media for distribution in North America.
