Idoling!!! (TV Show)
From Wiki.theppn
アイドリング!!! (English: Idoling!!!) is a Japanese variety show created by Fuji TV featuring the members of Idoling!!!. It is hosted by Masuno Hidetomo and a Fuji TV announcer, normally Morimoto Sayaka, Saitou Maiko, Endou Reiko, or Shouno Youko. Ishimoto Saori was also one of the regular announcers until September 2007. In episodes when the regular announcers were unavailable, Nakamura Hitomi has filled in.
The show started on October 30, 2006. It airs Monday through Thursday from 17:00 to 17:30 JST on two of Fuji TV's satellite channels, Fuji TV 721 and Fuji TV CSHD. Every episode is rebroadcast on the following day from 01:50 to 02:20 JST on another Fuji TV satellite channel, Fuji TV 739. Episodes are also made available through Fuji TV's Internet video streaming service, Fuji TV On Demand. The episodes from Fuji TV On Demand normally contain extra footage from when the show goes beyond its scheduled broadcast time slot.

Progression pattern
Day duty single word → song → member self introductions → set change → main segment → set change → fan-sama request!!!
- Day duty single word
The members take turns starting the show with various patterns. The member with the day duty starts the show by saying 'Idoling, hajimaru yo!' (Idoling is starting.)
- Opening song segment
In this segment Idoling sing past famous songs or their own songs.
- Member self introductions
In this segment MC Masuno presents a topic, such as 'liken yourself to a color', and the girls will give their self introductions while answering the topic.
- Set change
In on demand-episodes the set changes are shown in a box during the CMs. They mostly involve ADs running around to get the set ready for the segments, but sometimes the girls do something for the camera.
- Fan-sama request!!!
In this new segment Idoling will answer to the fans' requests to their website (I would like you to say this under these circumstances). The girls will then act out the request. The fan-sama will recieve an autograph from the member with the best acting. In Japan you can also download the winning performance with your cellphone for 26 yen.
Main segments
- ○○○gokko!!! (○○○make believe!!!)
In this segment Idoling play games from other Fuji TV shows like Hexagon II and Nep league. They get permission from other Fuji TV shows' producers to do it, and after the segment the producer usually invites a few members to participate in the real show.
- Ii-sou-shiritori!!! (Would-say-shiritori!!!)
Ii-sou-shiritori is shiritori with a few added rules. You're supposed to come up with something a certain person would say, which is made clear before the game starts. If you say something that the person wouldn't likely say, fumble with your words, lose the rhythm or end your sentance with 'n' you're out and suffer the Ii-sou-samas wrath. Sometimes famous idols and comedians join the game as guests.
- Appu! Appu! Kao gesture-ing!!! (Zoom! Zoom! Face gesture-ing!!!)
This is a game where Idoling is divided into two teams with five members (five members in one team, four members and an announcer in the other). One of the teams' members take turns in trying to act out words that are shown only to them while the rest of the team try to guess what the word is. The special thing about the game is that you're only allowed to act out the word with your face, hence the name of the segment. Masuno-san gives hints when needed to make the game smoother, and the team with most correct answers after a period of time wins. After the game the 'best face' is shown on a monitor, usually a member with a ridiculous expression on the face.
- Ganbaring!!! (Do your best-ing!!!)
In this segment Idoling basically do their best. This was the first main segment in the show, with the members hanging on to a steel bar as long as they could while introducing themselves. Every ganbaring segment has a different game.
- Kyofu! Fuji TV Kyuutai Toshidensetsu (Terror! Fuji TV Kyuutai urban legends)
There are many scary urban legends relating to the kyuutai, and this segment is where they are told. A story about a member is shown on a monitor, usually with something an idol would never do, everyone starts laughing and the members then discuss the urban legend. Sometimes you even forget that they're only rumors (or are they?) This is probably the most difficult segment to understand if you don't know Japanese.
- Futarikiring!!! (Just the two of us-ing!!!)
(To Masuno-san's probably great dismay) it was decided that there would be a segment where Masuno-san and an idoling member alone take care of the show. There's not really anything to be said about this, it must be seen by your own eyes.
Member segments
Some of the members have their own segments.
- Oshiete! Chuusan Sensei!!!/Kouichi Teacher!!! (Teach us! Third year middle school sensei!!!/First year high school teacher!!!)
In this segment Tonooka Erica and Yokoyama Rurika are Idoling's teachers, and try to teach the rest of the members how to solve mostly math problems, but sometimes other problems. They also seem to have a somewhat comically cold relationship to Masuno-san who also has to solve the problems. If everyone gets the answer right there's usually a great reward, like going to a theme park, but it's harder than it seems...
- 3gou Maipuru no Quiz! Hato/bunchou (Number 3 Maipuru's pigeon/Java Finch quiz!!!)
Endou Mai is a bird fanatic, so it's not a surprise that her segment is all about birds. A very laid back segment, she reads poems, plays with birds, and asks quiz questions. If the members get the answer right they are given a 'point', and the member with the most points in the end gets a gift from Maipuru.
- Yazawa Shousa no Shakaika Teisatsu (Commander Yazawa's society reconnaissance)
This segment is a possibly nostalgic one, with Commander Yazawa wearing a suit that's very similar to Gundam's Char Aznable. The music and video footage makes the atmosphere very defined. After a while he usually goes to a factory, explains the process and then asks a quiz question. If the members write the correct answer, they get a Char pen. I mean sharp pen.
- Phongchi ni Oshieru Niphongchi!!! (Teaching Phongchi Japanese history!!!)
In this segment the members get one minute each to try to teach Phongchi something that they want her to remember about Japanese history. When every teacher is done, Phongchi has to answer a question from every teacher where the answer is something that the teacher has just said. If Phongchi doesn't answer correctly it's of course not her fault, but the teacher's, so the teacher is punished. Can Phongchi get every question right?
- Honoo no Sanban Shoubu (The blazing 3 bout matches)
These matches are pair matches for the members who want to prove something. Who is the funniest member? Which member can enliven the show the most?
Past segments
These are probably going to be main segments sometimes, although they were labeled as past segments in the Japanese wiki. For example, the sumo 'final' was only the final sumo match with 9 members, not the final match ever.
- Onegai! Fan-sama!!! (Please! Fan-sama!!!)
In this segment the fans send mail about a certain topic using the website, and the idoling members choose a mail to read out loud and then discuss. The selected fan-sama gets a sticker, usually a member's sticker, but sometimes the kyuutai sticker is handed out... This segment is in the end of most idoling episodes and is really funny and interesting.
- Maniaidol!!!
To become idols with enthusiast-like knowledge the members learn various things from this segment. Different teachers show the Idoling members how to do various things and the members then try to do it as good as the teachers they learned from. This segment lasts several days for the teacher to really be able to spread his or her knowledge. The Mahjong maniaidol segment even lead to a three hour Mahjong special.
- Idoling!!! Professional sumo wrestling
During special times in the year the Idoling members have sumo wrestling matches. A real tournament to determine the yokozuna of Idoling.
