Uploading images
I dont know where else to ask this. Hopefully someone can help me with an answer. I am trying to upload images, but it doesnt work. i only get this error: The upload directory (/home/jeremy/wiki.theppn.org/htdocs/images) is not writable by the webserver.
How can i upload images? Am i doing something wrong, or is there something wrong with a server? Denadel 06:13, 28 November 2007 (JST)
- The sysops and Womby are aware of this problem, and it is in the process of being fixed. We'll give you more updates when we have them. ~ Wapiko 07:22, 28 November 2007 (JST)

- That is great :)
wow
Now that's a tricky one. Maybe page titles/links like Ddi or D_di? Then note the correct D[di:] spelling in the profile and/or information sections, so it would come up in the search engine if someone types it in. That's what I'd do to start it off. If the wiki admins have a better solution I'm sure they'd move/rename the page. When I see Wiki unfriendly spellings, I usually check various cd retailer sites to see how they handle it. Wikipedia.org is also good to see if anyone put an entry there already. Then there are always official sites. The one for this artist is at http://www.deeth.net Wonder if someone ever tried to register D[di:].com. lol. - [ ilikejpop ]
Thank you
Ne..I don't know, it would look really off.
She only goes by d[di:] but I wonder if I can use d(di:)instead...I'll see when I update later. Thanks a lot.
Question...
I ran into a problem when I was putting the info about BoA's discography. She has released a single named Double in Korea and Japan. There's no problem ith the japanese version, since it's written in caps (DOUBLE). But the korean version is written as Double, and that links to an artist page.
There's also some other problems... Like, she has released an album and a single named LISTEN TO MY HEART, the same thing happens with VALENTI, and there's 2 versions of the single Rock With You that are different, but the albums and singles should have different pages...
What can be done about this? I thought about renaming those like LISTEN MY HEART (single) and LISTEN TO MY HEART (album), and Double (korean version) and DOUBLE (japanese version). But I really didn't want to, since the discography section is already separated in albums/singles and korean/japanese parts...
Thanks in advance for the help...
- Well, the wikipedia way would be to rename all occurances so we would end up with Double (Japanese Version) Double (Korean Version) and Double (Artist) then on the Double Page provide just links to the 3 specific pages.
- I would also suspect though for releases by the same artist it would be acceptable to put multi-language or album and single details on the same page, listing each variation under its own heading. --Womby
- Thanks for the tip, but I figured out a way. I just used "|", so that when you click in the VALENTI single, for example, you're taken to VALENTI (single)
- Yes I assumed you would do that for internal links but anybody who types valenti in the search box will end up on the wrong page (possibly) the reason for listing all the alternatives on that central page is to allow people who don't follow an internal link to find the content they really want. --Womby

Problem registering: invalid username
I'm trying to register with the username 'xdcdx' and it keeps saying invalid username (the same with 'xxdcdxx'). I registered successfully on wikipedia with the same username a while ago. Can some admin help me?
Unable to register
I'm trying to register an account so I can track my contributions easier, and I get the following error "You have not specified a valid user name." The username I'm trying to register is "emeraldas" but it's not accepting it. Can someone help? --154.20.27.124 03:36, 8 May 2005 (HKT)
questions
funky titles
I know that there are restrictions to single/album names. So how should I rename the following album titles:
--gus
- If PIA is an acronym then PIA@arrogantempire.xxx Seems fine to me, as for the 2nd I would title it Real Florist and wait for somebody to complain but that would be naughty. --User:Womby(Talk)
producers
if an artist stopped making albums and instead, started producing other artist's albums, should the albums they produced be included in the discography? --gus
- I would guess so, but not listed next to their Singles and Albums, perhaps like IMDB which separates "crew" work from artistic. --User:Womby(Talk)"
- okay thanks. that was helpful. For the albums that they produced, what should the category be called then? "produced for"...? -gus
Linux Font Help
I noticed that on the Help page, you don't have any information on how to install Asian fonts in Linux. I can write an article for it, but I don't have access to edit the page - if an admin is interested, shoot me an email at ducttape12@yahoo.com ~ducttapeBigSexy
- Why not post it on this talk page? --Saa 18:43, 1 May 2006 (JST)
Sorry for not doing this sooner - here goes:
Linux
Many popular Linux distributions, including SuSE and Kubuntu, already have Asian fonts installed by default.
Arch Linux
Arch Linux, by default, does not. Install the ttf-arphic-uming and ttf-arphic-ukai packages with the following command: (NOTE: You must already be logged in as root)
# pacman -Sy ttf-arphic-uming ttf-arphic-ukai
For additional help using Pacman, refer to the the official Arch Linux Wiki

Updating Help:Contents
I noticed that the page is a bit out of date with respect to the Wikipedia links (some of which are dead, link to dab pages or have been redirected) and the old use of externally linking meta pages when you can use metawikipedia:Help:Contents for example. Would it be useful to consider tweaking and importing the public domain help pages as at mw:Help:Contents? Foxhill 18:07, 22 February 2007 (JST)
- Also, should it be highlighted somewhere that you can link to this wiki from Wikipedia using the [[ThePPN:article name]] shortcut? - Foxhill 18:26, 22 February 2007 (JST)
contributor philosophy
I have 2 questions regarding contributions... (1) Are images found on the web (as opposed to images you scanned yourself) encouraged? and (2) If you don't own an actual copy of a CD, but you have it digitally or can find a few sources online that agree on the contents, should you create a page for it? Just wondering about the general philosophy to go by here... It seems like a lot of things could be filled in pretty easily (though more likely to be inaccurate) if you didn't have to stay within your own CD library. --clint 12:51, 14 January 2008 (JST)
- Yes, they're fine, as long as there's no watermark - if it's scanned by an amateur scannist (as opposed to a corporate website like Amazon) scanning for a hobby, it's best to ask for permission.
- I think I can speak for everyone when I say that the majority of pages made here are made by people who don't necessarily own the album/release. *laugh* Are we that intimidating? I upload images I find on iTunes and the web all the time for release pages, even if I don't own the CD - I never thought people would actually be worried about that sort of thing. XD ~ Wapiko 13:31, 14 January 2008 (JST)
- Anyone who knows as much about this stuff as some of you guys do is intimidating, yes. :) Thanks for your guidelines. I was less worried about ownership rights than I was about keeping the wiki info/content value high. I know personally I always enjoy the pages that give interesting tidbits of information about an album or an artist, rather than just listing the song titles. Most of the time I research stuff online I can only find the raw info, not the juicy bits. --clint 11:57, 15 January 2008 (JST)
- Well don't worry - we're nothing like Wikipedia when it comes to image uploading =) ~ Wapiko 12:59, 15 January 2008 (JST)

New Category?
I'm working on fleshing out some of the Johnny's release pages and when I looked at the format for a few other pages, I noticed that many of the Hello! Project are included in the category "Hello! Project Releases." Since JE is a similar mass grouping of artists (i.e. people might be interested in seeing an alphabetical list of all releases by artists in this family like H!P fans might), should I create a category for Johnny's Entertainment Releases? I would have just gone ahead and done so, but it seems like this might require a mass spamming of the recent changes page to get everything that's already up added. ~ tsukinobyouin 15:16, 8 August 2008 (EDT)
