Izumi Rika (also known as Hama Chisaki and Rika) is a Japanese model, actress, and singer with Sun Music Brain (formerly with Snow Rabbits Promotions). She made her debut with the name "Hama Chisaki," changed to "Rika" in fall 2004, and in 2008 began using her birth name, "Izumi Rika," with different characters.

Biography

Izumi Rika (at this time she went under the name Hama Chisaki) is best known for playing the role of Mizuno Ami/Sailor Mercury in the sentai series Pretty Guardian Sailormoon (also known as PGSM) in fall 2003. Before being cast in the role, she had been a fashion model for the junior fashion magazine melon and was one of their top models from June 2003 to October 2004. In addition to being an active model and her recurring co-star role for the drama, she released her first music single in November 2003, and several months later released a character single for PGSM. However, Izumi never further pursued a music career.

In November 2004 with the release of a special episode of PGSM, Izumi was credited for her role as simply "Rika." After the special episodes and the series' end, Izumi went into unofficial retirement, her management citing her personal health and schooling as reasons. After PGSM's end she was also not seen in melon, and the magazine stopped publication in June 2005. Her whereabouts were kept extremely private; although she would be mentioned in the blogs of her former PGSM cast members, if pictures were shown, it would only be of her hand or feet, never her face.

In fall 2007 an account appeared on Youtube claiming to be run by the actress; however, this has yet to be proven true.

Izumi made her re-debut in 2008 after becoming a contestant in the Princess PINKY audition, and with this her stagename became similar to her real name but using different characters. Starting June 1st, 2008, she signed with the Sun Music Brain agency, a subdivision of Sun Music. Beginning July 2008, she began modeling for the magazine Ray.
