"GUILTY" is the ninth album released by Hamasaki Ayumi. The first press of the album contains a 32 page photobook. Though the official release date was January 1st 2008, the album was released in stores a week early (on 2007.12.25) with official limited extras. The album started charting on the Oricon chart on December 26th 2007.
The album would have been #1 on the Oricon for the week (selling 202,000 copies), but because of the holidays its sales followed over to the following week (this also happened with her "I am..." and "(miss)understood" albums). The album ended up reaching #2 (for 2 weeks), behind Kobukuro's "5296" album, which's beat "GUILTY"'s sales by 22,488 copies. This is Ayumi's first studio album not to reach #1, it also has her lowest two-week sales, selling 432,113 copies. Guilty charted for 17 weeks. So far, Guilty is Hamasaki's lowest album debut chart and sales.
The album debuted at #7 on the United World Chart and has sold a total of 202,000 copies. At SoundScan charts CD+DVD edition debuted at #1 selling 209,107 copies for its first week, while CD edition ranked at #13 selling 39,327 copies.
The album reached #2 at the Asian CD Chart in Indonesia and #21 at Global CD Chart in Indonesia. It sold over 1,800 copies, being her best-selling album in Indonesia.
As of 2008.06.02, this is 2008's eighth best-selling album.
