EXILE is a seven-member J-POP/R&B group under the avex mini-label rhythm zone. Originally called J Soul Brothers in 1999, but changed their name to EXILE in 2001 before their major label debut. EXILE consists of vocalists as well as performers. Its member roster currently includes HIRO (originally a member of ZOO), MAKIDAI, MATSU, USA as performers, SHUN and ATSUSHI as vocalists. SHUN was a member of the group until March 29th, 2006, when he announced that he was leaving the group to pursue a solo career. As of September 2006, the band has got a new co-vocalist, TAKAHIRO. A new member, AKIRA, has also joined as a performer, making EXILE into a seven-men group.

Biography
CHAPTER 1
The first best album SINGLE BEST, SELECT BEST and PERFECT BEST were released on January 1, 2005 and exceeded two million order copies. On July 20, 2005, there was a collaboration with GLAY and they released the single SCREAM under the name "GLAY×EXILE". It reached #1 in the Oricon weekly charting and #5 in the Oricon yearly single charting. The last live tour of CHAPTER 1 "EXILE@LIVE TOUR 2005 PERFECT LIVE ASIA" (September 24 - December 18, 2005) held began on September 24, 2005. The 19th single Tada...Aitakute was released on December 14, 2005. It is the second #1 single after real world five months and one year. It becomes the biggest hit album of EXILE own. The total sales 562,000 pieces of copies was their own highest single sales record. Also it is the #6 single in the Oricon yearly charting. The first live countdown "COUNTDOWN LIVE 2005-2006" was held on December 31, 2006 - January 1, 2007 in Makuhari Messe.
The 20th single YES! was released on March 1, 2006 and it is the lead single of the album ASIA. It reached #1 in the Oricon weekly charting, the consecutive #1 single after Tada...Aitakute and the third #1 single of EXILE. It became the last single of SHUN which turned into a five people group. SHUN left EXILE for solo activities on March 29, 2006. The 4th album ASIA and the live DVD "EXILE@LIVE TOUR 2005 PERFECT LIVE~ASIA~" were released at the same day. After that, the CHAPTER 1 of EXILE was concluded.
For the request from the fans, six members were concentrating again in the TV program "MUSIC STATION" at limit night again on April 21, 2006.
CHAPTER 2
On June, 2006, dancer AKIRA from RATHER UNIQUE was added as the fifth performer of EXILE. On September 22, 2006, audition "EXILE Vocal Battle Audition 2006~ASIAN DREAM~" reached about 10,000 participants and TAKAHIRO joins EXILE as a new vocalist. EXILE became a seven-man group. On November 22, 2006, there was a collaboration with Koda Kumi and they released WON'T BE LONG under the name "EXILE & Koda Kumi". It achieves one million download and reached #2 in the Oricon weekly charting. The CHAPTER 2 of EXILE began at December 6, 2006 and the 21st single Everything was released.
The 23rd single Michi was released February 14, 2007 and reached #1 in the February 26, 2007 Oricon weekly charting, also it is the 1000th single to acquire #1 in the history of Oricon. The 5th album EXILE EVOLUTION was released on March 7, 2007 and reached #1 in the Oricon weekly charting. The very first nationwide tour "EXILE LIVE TOUR 2007 EXILE EVOLUTION" of CHAPTER 2 was held in a Saitama super-arena on May 11, 2007 as the first day of the tour. On December 12, 2007, the 6th album EXILE LOVE was released. It reached #1 in the Oricon weekly charting and exceeded one million sales copies in the first month. It becomes the biggest hit album of EXILE.
"EXILE PERFECT YEAR" is declared in January 1, 2008. As the outline, there are three best albums including to record the hit songs from CHAPTER 1, the anime feature "EXsamurai", the monthly magazine "Gekkan EXILE" starting in summer, "Drama Group EXILES" Performance in May and the 5 large dome tour at SAPPORO, TOKYO, NAGOYA, OSAKA, FUKUOKA DOME were declared. On March 26, 2008, the best album EXILE CATCHY BEST was released and it exceeded one million order copies in the first day.
