"evolution" is the 20th single released by Hamasaki Ayumi. The song was used as the Kose Visee CM song which featured Ayumi in the CM. "evolution" is an up-beat song that uses a multited of instruments from guitars to other electric instruments. It is the second song to feature a composer by CREA. The single reached #1 on the Oricon charts and stayed on the charts for a total of seventeen weeks. The single sold 503,020 copies during its first week and has since sold a total of 955,250 copies. Because the single sold 955,250 copies in 2001 it became the #7 single of the year.

"evolution" is also the third DVD single released by Hamasaki Ayumi. The DVD single was released four months later containing the TV-CM promoting the CD, the song music video, and the making of the video.

Music Video
The music video for "evolution" was directed by Wataru Takeishi. The video starts out with Ayumi in a limo being driven to her music video shot. It then shows Ayumi being preped for her shoot. And as she's performing she starts to disappear.
