Information

Dugong no Mieru Oka is Cocco's 14th single. She performed the song for the first time live at Live Earth on 2007.07.07. It is a song about the Okinawan dugongs that can be seen in Ohara bay from Henoko-zaki in Okinawa. Due to the planned relocation of a US army heliport onto the hill, there are fears that the dugongs will no longer inhabit the bay. Despite fears that the Okinawan dugongs were becoming extinct as only solo dugongs have been seen since 2000, just recently before Cocco's Live Earth performance, a pair of dugongs had been spotted. The dugongs were swimming right overtop of the underwater research equipment that the Japanese government had placed there for the US heliport's construction.

The single was originally released in September as a two-track single sold solely in Okinawa. However, a four-track maxi single in November was released nationwide. The B-side Heaven's hell (from NHK 'Natsu Uta') was originally broadcast on the NHK TV show on 2007.08.14, and the live version of Okashi to Musume was broadcast live on radio as part of a mini studio live on 2007.08.10.

The Okinawa release reached #36 on the Oricon charts and stayed on the charts for a total of six weeks.
