Tsuchiya Anna
Flawless accent? ~ Wapiko 09:13, 1 February 2006 (JST)
- If you're listening to her for the first time you don't usually realise any grammatical mistakes or not, and her accent is really good. Well, unless you're listening to FROZEN ROSE and hear that "I couldn't breath" line or whatever it was xD --Martzb00r 09:16, 1 February 2006 (JST)
- Well, while we're at it, why is CICO on the list? Just because she can rap it decent enough doesn't mean fluency. =X ~ Wapiko 10:23, 1 February 2006 (JST)
- I thought she lived in California for ages. I can't see anything non-native in her accent/grammar or anything. I know that YUKI went to high school in New Zealand, so she's completely fluent.
- *checks JP wikipedia*
- Okey, Cico was the one that went to high school in New Zealand, but both of them lived in California. Their English is pretty good o_O --Martzb00r 10:33, 1 February 2006 (JST)

BoA
I don't think BoA should be on this page.. her English isn't fluent. o_O --User:JASON 3:37 PM CT, April l6
- I agree. Learning, she may be, but fluent, she ain't. --Hoshi-P 05:44, 6 April 2006 (JST)
Nakamura Fukiko
I'll add Nakamura Fukiko in here. She visit our country mid-March with the rest of CORE OF SOUL. She was interviewed bylocal news program and she was very much fluent and have no accent in speaking English. --Raven 12:41, 6 April 2006 (JST)
Sowelu
I just heard her English comment on J-MELO (April 4, 2007) and I don't think she's fluent. She has a good flow, but her grammar and some of her pronunciation is very fobby. o_o I might be biased, but I think Shiina Ringo sounds more fluent than Sowelu in songs. Anyway, what do you guys think?
- I heard her a couple of years ago on PopJapan.TV (the tv show) and she sounded excellent to me. I'm assuming she's spent some time in the states, but one never knows. @_@ Can you provide links on Youtube to any more of her speaking English? ~ Wapiko 14:50, 26 April 2007 (JST)
- It's actually not that bad, but I wouldn't hold it up as evidence of fluency either. I thought her phrasing was a bit more awkward in her interview with Will Smith ("Tell your wife to use it to cooking", "Can you feel us the things you and your son were doing on your free time?"), but it's difficult to gauge her command of the language from even that clip, since she coasts through most of it by laughing and nodding. Factor in the Engrishy lyrics she co-writes, and -- well, I guess it all depends on your definition of "fluent".
- BTW, did she speak in full English sentences on PopJapan.TV? That just seems like something I'd remember... although I do recall her pronunciation of the title sounding like that of a native speaker. - I Love Yu 10:26, 27 April 2007 (JST)
- Oh wow, thanks for that link and the interview! Well, there it is. @_@ I know it's hard to draw the line between 'speaking Engrish well' and fluent for some of the artists in this category, but I have to call it off for Sowelu now that I finally heard her speak English. (I just thought she had a funny accent in songs.) But, I guess it's up to the majority to decide. o_o ~ badtzmaru 10:41 April 30, 2007 (EST)

List?
Should we keep a list of people who might at any point finally reach that point where we'd call them fluent? D: Like, I know Rain is trying very hard to learn English and just looking at his improvement in one year is pretty amazing... in another year or so I would probably stretch and call him fluent. :\ This category does bring up a lot of judgment calls, too... --zeli 15:55, 26 April 2007 (JST)
