BLEACH (ブリーチ) is a popular shonen manga created by Kubo Tite (久保 帯人), and serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. It has been turned into a TV anime produced by Pierrot which is currently still running on TV Tokyo and also several games. The manga is being translated in the US by VIZ Entertainment.

Synopsis
Kurosaki Ichigo is a high school student who has always had the power to see and talk to ghosts. One day, he meets a death god (or "Soul Reaper" in the VIZ translation) Kuchiki Rukia, and in order to protect his family from being consumed by a Hollow - a fallen soul - he must borrow Rukia's powers and become a death god himself. As Ichigo fills in for Rukia as a death god, he and his friends become more and more immersed in the spiritual world of Soul Society, the afterlife for good spirits and the realm of the gods of death, and soon their world is turned upside-down.
