Ayabie (彩冷える) is a visual-kei and oshare-kei band formed sometime in April 2004. Was signed with the independent label Speed-disk, but changed to major label Geneon Entertainment Inc. on March 19 with the release of MELT AWAY. Since the release of Rikkaboshi and going into the label change, they have somewhat toned down their visual looks. Their music style consists of a variety of sounds and moods, ranging from: upbeat, catchy and digitalized/with synths to hard-edged and heavy.

Name

Their name is a nonsensical term and has been written in a few ways since the band started. At the beginning it was written in either katakana (アヤビエ; used almost always), or in kanji/kana (彩冷える; used rarely). After Ryouhei withdrew from the band, they dropped the katakana in favour of the other, and they also have been using the romanization officially (彩冷える-ayabie-). For the kanji/kana combo the "ru" (る) isn't pronounced, it was added to have the same amount of characters as the katakana name.
